Lotus Evora Wins Another Award
The new Lotus Evora has added yet another award to its growing trophy cabinet, this time for iMotor Magazine’s “Overall Winner - Most Rated Car of 2008”. In every issue of iMotor (which has an ABCe of 108,600), readers have been ‘rating’ and ‘slating’ the cars featured; and out of 40,000 votes counted, 95 per cent of voters rated the Lotus Evora, compared to just 5 per cent slating it making the new 2+2 the most highly rated car in 2008 by iMOTOR readers.

The new Lotus Evora is everything a sports car should be; sculptural, stylish and fast; considerably faster than the famous Elise and more refined at speed than the track-focused Exige. Lotus promises its trademark exemplar performance credentials and suggests the Evora will achieve a maximum speed of 160 mph and a 0-60 time at less than 5 seconds!

This prestigious award comes just a week after Lotus announced a £2 million profit for the last financial year, citing the growth of Lotus as a world leading high technology, ecological automotive engineering consultancy and the unveiling of the visually stunning Lotus Evora, the first new Lotus for 13 years, as amongst the key reasons for the accolade.

Lotus Wins Award for Engine Research that Delivers 15% CO2 Reduction
Lotus Engineering, the world renowned automotive consultancy division of Lotus, is celebrating its latest accolade after triumphing at ‘The Engineer Technology + Innovation Awards 2008’ with another environmentally focused project. The winning project, Project HOTFIRE, developed a gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine concept that reduces fuel consumption by 15% and was named the leading academic collaborative project in the automotive sector.
The 2009 Model Year Lotus Exige Cup 260: Add Lightness to Increase Performance
Lotus Cars Ltd, has unveiled the MY2009 Exige Cup 260. A direct development of the 2008 Exige Cup Car, this year’s car uses advanced light weight components and carbon fibre body material, to reduce the overall weight by 38 kg to a total mass less than 900 kg. Maximum power output of 257 hp (260 PS), remains the same as the 2008 car, but with careful attention to weight reduction detail, the 2009 Model Year Exige Cup 260 provides a more agile and dynamic track focused drive and is more than capable of taming Europe’s most challenging race circuits.

The series will be organised and run by LoTRDC who, with MotorSport Vision Racing run the successful “Elise Trophy” race series in the UK. Update on the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebrations at Lotus
On Sunday 14th September 2008, Lotus is opening its Hethel Factory gates to host an anniversary open day and is inviting enthusiasts old and new.
Fresh from its global unveiling at the British International Motorshow, the new Lotus Evora will be on display as part of a development story exhibition about Hethel’s latest 2+2 sportscar.
Guests will be free to tour the impressive engineering and factory facilities and sections of the design studios will be open for all to see.
Clark Type 25 Elise SC Limited Edition
Jim Clark is considered by many as the finest and most naturally gifted racing driver of all time. He won the F1 World Championship twice for Team Lotus in 1963 and in 1965. In total, he won 25 Grand Prix races and was the first Briton to win the Indianapolis 500. Clark won a third of all the F1 races he entered, as well as racing in other formulae such as F2, F3 and Touring Cars. Typically he would race in as many as three different categories per race meeting! How many of the current crop of F1 drivers would do that?

Lotus Engineering, the world renowned automotive consultancy division of Lotus, has developed technologies to synthesise external sound on electric and hybrid vehicles to counteract the growing concern these ‘quiet’ vehicles pose to pedestrians and cyclists. A simulation of a real engine sound is used on the ‘Safe & Sound’ Hybrid technology demonstrator vehicle, making it instantly recognisable that the vehicle is in motion.
